Tutto quello che i vostri clienti osano spesso chiedere e a cui voi non sapete rispondere<br />

(oxygen mask, pressure on the thorax, manual resuscitator, ...).<br />

Attention: respiratory stimulants (doxapram) are not recommended <strong>in</strong> case<br />

of hypoxia <strong>in</strong> the absence of oxygen supply. The analeptic respiratory causes<br />

an <strong>in</strong>crease <strong>in</strong> oxygen consumption. In the absence of sufficient oxygen supply<br />

(<strong>in</strong>efficient breath<strong>in</strong>g: airway obstruction by mucus, ...), hypoxia <strong>in</strong> the<br />

bra<strong>in</strong> is accelerat<strong>in</strong>g (first central organ affected) and accelerates the suffer<strong>in</strong>g<br />

of the animal .<br />

- (Tie the umbilical cord to 1.5 cm <strong>in</strong> the abdomen, then cut with clean<br />

scissors). Not mandatory but recommended <strong>in</strong> kennels conditions.<br />

- Clean the stump (chlorhexid<strong>in</strong>e, povidone iod<strong>in</strong>e).<br />

- Rub the placenta on puppies: promotes the adoption by the mother.<br />

- Check the absence of cleft palate and abdom<strong>in</strong>al hernia. Control the presence<br />

of a functional anus (common congenital abnormalities).<br />

- Place puppies <strong>in</strong> a warm place until the awaken<strong>in</strong>g of the mother (30-32<br />

° C) and their way back to the house for milk<strong>in</strong>g. Puppies can be put to<br />

the mammary glands of the mother after the <strong>in</strong>tervention ended <strong>in</strong> order<br />

to provide a rapid <strong>in</strong>jection of energy and immunoglobul<strong>in</strong>s (ma<strong>in</strong>ly after<br />

emergency C-section).<br />

The pups are left with the mother once she is awake, to limit the stress of<br />

the mother and any possible rejection (aggressiveness, cannibalism, ...). Do<br />

not precipitate contact between mother and puppies at the vet hospital (stressful<br />

conditions, bitch disoriented and pa<strong>in</strong>ful).<br />
