(oxygen mask, pressure on the thorax, manual resuscitator, ...).
Attention: respiratory stimulants (doxapram) are not recommended in case
of hypoxia in the absence of oxygen supply. The analeptic respiratory causes
an increase in oxygen consumption. In the absence of sufficient oxygen supply
(inefficient breathing: airway obstruction by mucus, ...), hypoxia in the
brain is accelerating (first central organ affected) and accelerates the suffering
of the animal .

scissors). Not mandatory but recommended in kennels conditions.
- Clean the stump (chlorhexidine, povidone iodine).
- Rub the placenta on puppies: promotes the adoption by the mother.

of a functional anus (common congenital abnormalities).
- Place puppies in a warm place until the awakening of the mother (30-32
° C) and their way back to the house for milking. Puppies can be put to
the mammary glands of the mother after the intervention ended in order
to provide a rapid injection of energy and immunoglobulins (mainly after
emergency C-section).
The pups are left with the mother once she is awake, to limit the stress of
the mother and any possible rejection (aggressiveness, cannibalism, ...). Do
not precipitate contact between mother and puppies at the vet hospital (stressful
conditions, bitch disoriented and painful).
