4. OTHER MEDICAL CASTRATION
- Ultrasound. Ultrasound have been used to suppress spermatogenesis
through a combined effect of heat and mechanics. A high-intensivity focused
ultrasound beam is used on testes, epididymis or vas deferens. The US waves
induced thermal coagulative necrosis of sub-surface structures. However, skin
burns occured in approximately 20% of cases.
- Reproductive toxins. Differents toxins (ketoconazole, embelin, alphachlorohydrin,
bisdiamine, ...) have been tested but all presents systemic side
effects, teratogenic effects or short acting effect.
5. LAPAROSCOPIC CRYPTORCHID CASTRATION
Laparascopy is a minimally invasive alternative to laparotomy.
Laparoscopy allows an exploration of the testicle in the abdominal cavity
using a small incision.
The technique can be performed by a single input using an endoscope with
averted vision (the technique will be detailed) or a mixed technique using laparoscopy/laparotomy
(the testis is led by using a hook or clip through the enlarged
primary incision).
