La 9090 non è solo la prima caffettiera espresso della nostra storia, è anche il primo oggetto
Alessi per la cucina dopo gli anni ’30, il nostro primo premio Compasso d’Oro (1979), il
primo oggetto Alessi entrato nella Permanent Design Collection del MOMA di New York…
E’ stato il primo dei nostri oggetti anfibi, nel senso che si usa in cucina ma grazie alle sue
qualità formali si presta anche a essere portata direttamente in tavola. Mostrando con il suo
esempio che esisteva uno spazio di mercato interessante per le “caffettiere belle”, ha dato la
stura a pressoché tutti i fabbricanti di casalinghi che hanno cercato di imitarci. Insieme alla
9095 di Rossi rimane, dopo più di vent’anni, la nostra caffettiera più amata dal pubblico.
The 9090 was not only the first espresso coffee machine in our
history, but it was also the first
Alessi object designed for the
kitchen after the 30’s.
It also gained us our first
Compasso d’Oro Award (in
1979) and it is on display
in the Permanent Design
Collection at the MOMA in in New York. The 9090 was the first of
our amphibious objects, those that can be used in the kitchen but are
attractive enough to be used directly at the table. It proved that there
was ample space on the market for “good-looking coffee machines”,
and it spurred on almost all household goods manufacturers to try to imitate our lead. Along
with Rossi’s 9095, even after twenty years it remains one of our most popular coffee machines.
