Množství vápníku, vitamínů a dalších živin v potravinách s posilující
globalizací a industrializací zemědělství výrazně klesá, zatímco
nepřímou úměrou bohatnou nadnárodní korporace, které
vydělávají na prodeji semen „zázračných“ rajčat a využívání levné
pracovní síly v Indii a dalších zemích. Prostý zájem spotřebitelů
o větší a červenější rajčata, která vydrží „čerstvá“ až tři týdny, vedl
k zanedbání nejen obsahu živin v potravinách, ale rovněž k zanedbání
základních lidských práv.

The amount of calcium, vitamins and other nutrients in food is notably
decreasing in connection to the extensive globalisation and
industrialisation of agriculture while the international corporations
grow ever richer selling “miraculous” tomato seeds and exploiting
cheap labour in India and other countries. The consumers’ demand
for bigger and redder tomatoes that stay “fresh” for weeks led to
the neglect of both the nutrient content of the food and the basic
human rights.
