Snímek přehledně prezentuje současná témata výzkumu neurovědních
disciplín. Zásadní otázky ohledně fungování lidského
mozku se soustředí kolem problému svobodné vůle. Co když je
náš mozek biologicky determinován k určitému způsobu vnímání
a chování?
Co se skutečně děje v našem mozku a kolik z těchto dějů si uvědomujeme?
K velké části procesů v mozku nemáme přístup – odehrávají
se mimo naše vědomí. Ovšem vzestup užívání zobrazovacích
metod k výzkumu mozkové činnosti posouvá hranice našich
znalostí. Ačkoliv jsou zatím naše vědomosti povrchní, potenciál
výzkumu mozku je enormní. S možnostmi, které zkoumání přináší,
ovšem vyvstávají i etické otázky. Pokud bude možné mozek pomocí
technologií modifikovat, je možné toho zneužít?
The film comprehensively presents current topics in the research
of neuroscientific fields. Key inquiries into the workings of the
human brain focus on the issue of free will. What if our brains are
biologically determined to perceive and behave in a certain way?
What is truly happening in our brains and how much of it are we
aware of? We are not privy to the majority of our brain’s processes—they
occur beyond our consciousness. The rise in the use of
displaying methods in the research of brain activity furthers our
understanding. Although our knowledge remains superficial, the
potential of this research is enormous. Along with the possibilities
the exploration brings, ethical questions emerge. Could the possibility
to technologically modify brains be abused?
