domov více než dvanácti stovek druhů živočichů a jedna pětina
světových zásob povrchové sladké vody. To je Bajkal, jehož budoucnost
je v ohrožení.
Vědci, ekologové a zaměstnanci místní chráněné oblasti v dokumentu
debatují o rapidně se zhoršujícím problému vysychání
a znečišťování nejstaršího jezera na světě, ke kterému začalo
v posledních letech docházet. Snímek zachycuje i unikátní pohled
na to, jak problémy Bajkalu vnímají místní obyvatelé, kteří jsou
s jezerem spjatí celý život. Společně se všichni snaží nastínit možná
řešení, jak zabránit nejhoršímu.
Baikal is the deepest lake on Earth. It’s more than 20 million years
old, home to more than 1,200 animal species, and holds one fifth
of the world’s surface sweetwater reserves. Its future is in danger.
In this documentary, scientists, ecologists, and employees of the
local reservation discuss the rapid drying out and pollution of the
oldest lake in the world that has taken place over the past few
years. The picture also captures a unique perspective on how locals,
whose lives are tied to the lake, perceive the issues concerning
Baikal. Together, they attempt to find solutions on how to avoid the
worst scenario.
