„Kde je moment, kdy se zvuk stává hudbou?“ Buržoazie 19. století
takovou otázku v koncertních síních moc neřešila. Příchod
elektronické a experimentální hudby ale změnil mnohé. Dá se
hudba skutečně tvořit s čímkoliv, co nám přijde pod ruku?
Sebereflexivní film Johany Ožvold sám nemá k experimentu daleko.
Bere diváky na exkurzi po abstraktních prostorách nahrávacích
studií bez ustavujících záběrů míst, kterými kamera proplouvá.
Zvuky a hlasy se linou ze zdrojů umístěných mimo obraz, klasické
střihy často nahrazuje vnitrozáběrová montáž obrazovek ve stylu
Godardova Numéro deux. Výsledkem je formálně vtahující esej o
vztahu mezi umělcem, společností a nástrojem, kterým se stává
zvuk samotný.
“When does sound become music?” The 19th century bourgeoisie
did not dwell on this in its concert halls. But the emergence of
electronic and experimental music has changed this notion considerably.
Can music really be made with anything?
Johana Ožvold‘s self reflexive film does not stray far from an experiment.
It takes the viewers around the abstract spaces of recording
studios without establishing shots of location through which the
camera floats. Sounds and voices come from off-screen sources
while conventional cuts are often replaced by in-shot montages of
screens similar to Godard’s Numero deux. The result is a formally
enticing essay about a bond between an artist and a tool, which
the sound itself becomes.
