Američané sice nezískali prvenství v letu do vesmíru, ale zato
se snažili předhonit Sovětský svaz v závodech o Měsíc. Robert

Třídílná dokumentární série Roberta Stonea Hon na Měsíc mapuje
a komentuje americké snahy přistát na Měsíci. Na rozdíl od
jiných podobných dokumentů se ovšem nebojí vesmírný program
nahlížet kriticky a poukazovat i na stinné stránky přípravy letů na
Měsíc. V první epizodě se například dozvídáme, že úspěchy NASA
pomáhali budovat nacističtí vědci a že kennedyovská snaha prezentovat
vesmírnou agenturu jako liberální organizaci se rozhodně
nesetkala s podporou amerických jižanských politiků.

the Soviet Union to the Moon. Robert Stone maps their attempts
from the very first theoretical ideas up to Apollo 11.
This documentary series by Robert Stone called Chasing the Moon
has three episodes and maps out and comments the American
attempts to land on the Moon. In contrast to other similar documentaries,
it looks at the space program critically and points out
the darker sides of the preparations for the journey to the Moon.
The first episode highlights the fact that NASA’s success were the
results from help of Nazi scientists, and that Kennedy’s efforts to
present the space agency as a liberal organization lacked support
from politicians in the US South.
