Hochfeine, extrem seltene französische Goldemail-Schnupftabakdose
“Hera am Liebesaltar”
Geh.: 20Kt Gold, Gehäuseherstellerpunze unleserlich, Quittungsstempel
Jean Jaques Prevost (1762-1768).
Rechteckiges Gehäuse, abgeschrägte Ecken, im Zentrum des scharnierten
Deckels polychrome achteckige Emailplakette mit der Darstellung der
thronenden Hera, vor ihr Amor mit einer brennenden Fackel in der Hand,
im Begriff das Feuer auf dem von Putten gesäumten Altar der Liebe,
beschriftet mit den Namen Alexander und Elisabeth, zu entzünden.
Hochfeine, gravierte und emaillierte “taille d’epargne” Rahmung mit
geometrischem Rankendekor. Der Plakettengrund, die Seiten und der
Boden guillochiert und transluzid kobaltblau emailliert.
Im Deckel Widmungsgravur: “Sir Edward Cripps. With esteem and
affection on his retirement from the council of the stock exchange, 5th
April 1950.”
A very fine, extremely rare French gold enamel snuff-box “Hera at
the Altar of Love”
Case: 20k gold, case makers punch mark not readable, charge mark Jean
Jaques Prevost (1762-1768).
Rectangular case, cut corners, in the centre of the hinged lid a polychrome
octagonal enamel plaque showing Hera on her throne; Cupid before her
is carrying a flaming torch and about to light the fire on the altar of love,
which is lined by putti and carries the names of Alexander and Elisabeth.
Very fine, engraved and “taille d’epargne” enamel borders. The ground of
the plaque, the sides and base engine-turned and translucent cobalt blue
enamelled.
In the lid a dedication engraving: “Sir Edward Cripps. With esteem and
affection on his retirement from the council of the stock exchange, 5th
April 1950.”
