My Vision for the ministry of the PSW: My vision has always and continues to be the vision Jesus
set before us—to make disciples. What better place than to do it in the PSD where there is such a
rich variety of nationalities and cultures? I have a deep devotion to a wide range of ministries and a
commitment to make sure ministries- including campus ministry- be preserved at all costs. The
church needs to answer questions people are asking and to be the great purveyor of hope. As a
lecturer on family issues throughout the USA and Canada, I hear the same cry—give us something
we can depend on, something that is “forever”. The ultimate question is always, “What happened to
me when I die?” What a privilege to be able to give people the promise of Jesus.
time, Intentional Interim Pastorates, 4 in PSD; nation-wide LCMS leader in Lutheran Intentional
Interim Ministry and member of NALIP faculty 5 years; served in PSW for past 38 years.
My Vision for the ministry of the PSW: I am excited about what our God is accomplishing
through the missional and visionary direction taken by our younger teachers, pastors and lay leaders
who are passionate about the Gospel’s impact in changing lives and re-vitalizing congregations and
schools. We need to hold firm to the Gospel as the power that “crosses” cultures, generations and
ethnic diversity. The PSD will be better served with less fear, grief and anxiety and by more creative
and communicative approaches to ding effective ministry together. Middle judicatories like District
have opportunity to model discipleship and empowerment and joy in their approach to serving and
resourcing congregations.
