WHEREAS, this decision does not apparently
save any of the proceeds of the sales of these
properties for mission and ministry in our
district; and
WHEREAS, in the past, congregations had
been told that it was a policy of the Board of
Directors that the sale of district properties
would go principally to fund mission and
ministry elsewhere in the district and not
principally to fund the district budget; and
WHEREAS, this policy seems to have been
set aside until the debt of the Pacific
Southwest District is $2 Million (Budget
Report Pacific Southwest District January
2012); therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Pacific Southwest
District in convention reaffirm and set the
policy that the proceeds from the sale of
district owned property be set aside so that
one third of the proceeds would be made
available to mission congregations for a loan
at 0% interest, one third of the proceeds be
used to pay down district incurred debt, and
one third be used to fund missions at the
discretion of the Regional Mission Councils;
and be it finally
RESOLVED, that the details of each sale be
made both public and available to our
congregations.

500 TH ANNIVERSARY - 01
To Celebrate The 500th Anniversary Of
The Reformation With The Sponsorship
Of The Pacific Southwest District Of The
Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS)
Through Its Churches, Schools And
District Office
WHEREAS, the October 31, 1517, will be the
500 th anniversary of the Reformation; and
WHEREAS, the Southern California District
of the LCMS officially sponsored the 450 th
Anniversary of the Reformation in 1967 with
27,000 people in attendance; and
WHEREAS, more than 77% of the Lutheran
families in today’s Pacific Southwest District
will support Lutheran Church-Missouri
Synod-led public festivals; and
WHEREAS, the 500 th Anniversary of the
Reformation
therefore
is worthy of celebration;
BE IT RESOLVED that the Pacific
Southwest District, in Convention, officially
sponsor one or more festival events on or
about Sunday, October 29, 2017; and
Be it Finally Resolved, that the Pastors of the
Pacific Southwest District give thanks to God
for the ministry that we share together.
