with the breeding lines, the three other factors are – previous crops (3), sowing dates (2),
and nitrogen input (2). In our region these factors have the greatest impact on grain yield
and quality. This very experiment design allows increasing reliability of the final evaluation
of breeding lines and to select the most promising candidates to be studied in the
State Variety Trial (SVT). We have passed 48 wheat and triticale varieties to SVT in the
last 8 years. By the present moment 25 varieties have been accepted for inclusion into the
State Register, and 21 varieties are still under SVT. The complex evaluation of breeding
lines in the Final Competition Trial gives us an opportunity to work out some elements
of agro-technological passports still in the process of breeding. This facilitates in the future
adaptation of the varieties on the commercial fields, thus increasing their economic
efficiency.
