genetiC vARiAtion of gli-2 in kAzAkh WheAT CuLTIVARS

It is well-known that about 1% of human population is affected by celiac disease (CD).
The cause of CD is gluten proteins that mostly derived from a-gliadins. a-Gliadins are
encoded by Gli-2, which is located on three homoeologous wheat chromosomes 6A, 6B,
and 6D. In this work we analyzed randomly selected 48 hexaploid wheat cultivars of Kazakhstan
for variation of DNA and cDNA sequences of Gli-2. We have found a variation
in three CD epitopes, Glia-a9, Glia-a20, and Glia-a. The results can be used in wheat
breeding for low CD immunogenic potential.
