elongatum through cultivar Teewon, in particular Sr24, Lr24, and from rye – Pm17, Gb2
and one more gene of resistance to the stem rust and tick (Eriophyes tulipae Keifer) – carrier
of virus wheat diseases.
On the basis Expromt was selected jointly with the scientists of the Institute of Physiology
and Genetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine new variety Kolumbiya,
the first cultivar with the 1AL/1RS translocation included into the Register of Plant Varieties
of Ukraine cultivar was produced and also Smuglyanka, Vesnyanka, Zolotokolosa.
The cultivars with the wheat-rye translocation of 1AL/1RS in the state test of Ukraine
registered potential of the grain productivity over 12 mt/hа. New wheat varieties with
wheat-rye translocation 1AL/1RS incorporated, that promoted increase of their genetic
potential of grain productivity and improvement of adaptability for resistance to unfavorable
environmental biotic factors, have been developed.
To our opinion, further breeding research aimed at combination of both 1AL/1RS and
1BL/1RS translocations in one genotype and also adaptation of new sources-carriers of rye
components to the gene background of Myronivka wheat will be promising. Pedigrees of
those Myronivka winter wheat cultivars which are left with unidentified (probable) sources
of the 1BL/1RS translocation also need investigation. Of importance will be genetic testing
of new cultivars, especially carriers of the 1AL/1RS wheat-rye translocation.
