are useless because of dwell and ... limitations.
What we should do IS to examine the functions performed
(comms, nav, etc.;; remember that these functions
are as old as warfare and - not unique to space: and
then find a means to determine when other means of
support are more appropriate from spacecraft.
Question: This is a conference about tactical, low
cost, lightsat concepts.
Reply: Possibly yes, but the confusion comes from
the mere existence of systems providing support to
the theater and that dedicated systems can only be
deployed if they are low cost, hence lightsat.
Question: There may be problems of jamming TACSATS.
Reply: Yes. Probably mare for SAR than optical systems.
Nevertheless, means exist to reduce such damaging
effects to a radar, in general. It may be worthwhile
to develop some tests t.o better assess how to cope
with the jammer threat.
