PROFINET cable assembly work CAUTION Even though the optical connector is protected by dust caps, the connector can be soiled. A soiled optical surface of a connector can reduce the reliability and the quality of the signal transmission. Clean the optical surface ot the connecotre prior to connecting it to a PROFINET device. The process of inspecting and cleaning the face ferrules depend on the kind of fibers used: multimode, single-mode, PCF or POF. PROFINET cable assembly work 2.2.3 Optical face inspection Manuf. instructions Manufacturer instructions: Refer to the manufacturer’s optical inspection instructions. The following steps can be used as a guideline: Make sure that the fiber link to be examined is not actively transmitting. This is accomplished by physically detaching the connectors from the transmitter or turning off the power of all interface equipment. Protect equipment against re-connection or power on during inspection. Serious eye injury can occur during the inspection of a connector if an active transmitter is connected to the fiber Always verify that the connector under inspection is not attached to a transmitting source.
