• Cut off the fiber, sticking out of the<br />

ferrule. In case of a glass fiber, use<br />

special cleave tool.<br />

• Polish optical fiber cable in minimal<br />

two steps (rough <strong>and</strong> then fine<br />

polish) according the termination<br />

instruction. Use a polishing holder<br />

to align the connector to the<br />

polishing pad <strong>and</strong> polish it with<br />

movements in a shape 8.<br />

• Remove all traces of abrasive<br />

material.<br />

• Check the quality of the optical<br />

surface with a portable Inspection<br />

microscope. Make sure that the<br />

surface is free of dirt, debris or<br />

damage.<br />

• Check the correct mounting of the<br />

connector by measuring the<br />

attenuation of the cable with the<br />
