This was a funny quirk. A couple months later, on a Friday night, I had no date
and there was nothing going on that I knew about. So, with no other plan of action, Thug
and I got in my car and went to a drive-in movie. I stopped and bought some beer, hid it
in the trunk, and arrived at the Starlite Theater, out on M78, just west of Waverly Road.
We got situated and watched the first film, whatever it was. The next one wasn‟t
anything worth watching, but I still had some beer left, so we stayed. After a little while,
I was getting hungry. Since Thug was a dog, someone who‟s always hungry, I went to
the concession stand. I got myself some popcorn and two nearly raw hamburgers for
Thug, and was about to head back to the car.
Then I stopped.
Cary was standing right in front of me, smiling away. She told me she was here
with her girlfriends, a passenger in some other girl‟s car. We talked a while and decided
it would be more fun for both of us if she finished watching the movie with me, in my
car.
I walked her back to her friend‟s vehicle and she announced her change in plans
before we went to my damned nasty old Oldsmobile. I‟d long since wrecked the Ford,
then bought a 1958 white Old 88 coupe, which I also wrecked, both times when I was
drunk.
The Ford was a broadside accident where I was only a block from the party at
Tony Redfern‟s. I ran through some back yards, then waited until around three before I
