A new and charming, variegated California lilac with white margins on green leaves, giving a silvery sheen to<br />
the foliage, and panicles <strong>of</strong> pale blue flowers in spring. A low growing spreader, to 2 ft tall x 6-8 ft wide<br />
eventually. Does well in sun or part shade in hottest climates with little summer water once established. Cold<br />
hardy to <strong>USDA</strong> <strong>zone</strong> 8.<br />

established. These do well in co<strong>as</strong>tal settings where conditions are similar to their native habitat. E<strong>as</strong>ily frost<br />
hardy in <strong>USDA</strong> <strong>zone</strong> 8, recovering from temperatures in <strong>zone</strong> 7.<br />

Yes, this is a ceanothus, though looks a bit like a cotone<strong>as</strong>ter; a selection from a maritime, tiny-leaved,<br />
evergreen groundcover, a gray-leaved, carpeting shrub, slowly to 2 ft tall spreading to 4 ft wide, with stiff,<br />
curving branches dotted in spring with puffs <strong>of</strong> blue-lavendar flowers. Accepting <strong>of</strong> garden conditions but<br />
tolerant <strong>of</strong> summer drought once established. Great for sunny, hard to reach are<strong>as</strong> in average to poor soils.<br />
Long lived and frost hardy <strong>USDA</strong> <strong>zone</strong> 8.<br />

spring. Can reach 12 ft tall or more and does well on the bright edge <strong>of</strong> woodlands. Sun to part shade in welldrained<br />
soil. Drought tolerant but appreciative <strong>of</strong> occ<strong>as</strong>ional deep watering in summer. Frost hardy in <strong>USDA</strong><br />
<strong>zone</strong> 8.<br />
