Cyclamen coum - silver form<br />

A delightful form <strong>of</strong> Cyclamen coum, the round green leaves more spl<strong>as</strong>hed with silver than the straight<br />

species. A wonderful plant for dry shade where soil is well-drained, providing colorful foliage all winter and<br />

pink to white flower from fall to spring. Spreads <strong>by</strong> dividing the underground tubers to form lovely colonies<br />

under shrubs and anywhere color is wanted. To 5-10" tall forming small colonies. Frost hardy in <strong>USDA</strong><br />

<strong>zone</strong> 5.<br />

Dracunculus vulgaris dragon arum<br />

The fabulous voodoo lily, with stalks emerging in late winter with a snake skin-like appearance, followed <strong>by</strong><br />

frilly leaves and, later, a large (to very large) dark maroon flower fleshy and aromatic -- to the flies that<br />

pollinate this extraordinary creature. A quick does <strong>of</strong> water is said to mitigate the fumes. Stunning with and<br />

without flowers. Part shade and water. Frost hardy in upper <strong>USDA</strong> <strong>zone</strong> 5.<br />

E<strong>as</strong>y, tough, and durable perennial that doubles <strong>as</strong> “catnip” for your feline friends with s<strong>of</strong>t, furry foliage and<br />

abundant spikes <strong>of</strong> blue-purple flowers all summer long. Low-growing in clumps, eventually up to 2 ft tall and<br />

3 ft wide but e<strong>as</strong>ily trimmed to smaller size. Sun to part shade in well-drained soil; tolerates drought once<br />

established. Excellent choice near sidewalks and on walls or that difficult parking strip. Frost hardy to upper<br />

Long-lived perennial with evergreen pine-like foliage and orange-red flowers late spring through the summer.<br />

to part shade Drought tolerant but tolerates regular garden conditions. Frost hardy to -15F, mid <strong>USDA</strong> <strong>zone</strong><br />

Evergreen succulent with round green leaves that become more maroon in summer and golden summer<br />

flowers. Spreads to 4" tall x 18" wide. Native to the Pacific Northwest, these are found in rocky places but<br />

tolerate many soil conditions in sun to part shade. Tolerant <strong>of</strong> dry conditions but grow more quickly with<br />

average summer water. Frost hardy to -15F, mid <strong>USDA</strong> <strong>zone</strong> 5.<br />

Tolmiea menziesii 'Taff's Gold' piggyback plant<br />

A west co<strong>as</strong>t native groundcover with felted, variegated evergreen foliage and lovely green flowers for a dry<br />

shady spot or a moist partly sunny spot. Will spread to 4 ft wide and 1 ft tall in just a couple years. Hardy to at<br />

le<strong>as</strong>t 15 below. Makes a nice houseplant.<br />
