Also known <strong>as</strong> J<strong>as</strong>minum primulinum, a mounding shrub to 4-5 ft or a vine to 10 ft or more, these with green<br />
leaves and some gold variegation. But the flowers are bright yellow and double, very striking from spring<br />
through autumn. Sun for best color but very adaptable to shade. Drought tolerant though appreciates<br />

mounding texture. Also a mounding shrub to 4-5 ft or a vine to 10 ft or more. Sun for best color but very<br />
adaptable to shade. Cheerful, too. Flowers are similar <strong>as</strong> well, pale yellow appearing from spring through<br />
autumn. Drought tolerant though appreciates occ<strong>as</strong>ional summer water in dry climates. Frost hardy to 10F, the<br />

Amazingly large trunked palm native to both sides <strong>of</strong> the Central Valley <strong>of</strong> Chile. Historically harvested for<br />
sweet sap used to make an alcoholic beverage. Semi-hardy in the Northwest; the trick is to give it enough<br />
heat accumulation for it to grow!<br />

A very attractive, evergreen vine from south central Chile growing in a most re<strong>as</strong>onable manner to about 10 ft<br />
with matte green leaves coated powder blue underneath and small pinkish white flowers in early spring<br />
leading to bluish black fruit when more than one clone is about. This collection from Randall Hitchin in 2005<br />
is good where a vine is needed that won’t eat the world. Frost hardy and remaining evergreen to the bottom <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>USDA</strong> <strong>zone</strong> 8 in well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade. Good container spiller.<br />

Laurus nobilis 'Aurea' golden bay<br />
For the culinary gardener -- a densely branched, evergreen tree, 6-15 ft wide x 10-30 ft tall with bright yellow,<br />
aromatic leaves that can se<strong>as</strong>on soups and stews. Small, yellowish flowers and black, fruit. Native to the<br />
Mediterranean in moist valleys, so well-drained soil, sun to part shade, and some summer moisture is best, at<br />
le<strong>as</strong>t until well established. Frost hardy in <strong>USDA</strong> <strong>zone</strong>s 8-11.<br />
