Working With Approval Users
Approval users can be defined at the product level (for all components) or at the
component level (which allows for components to have different approval users). The
users entered as approval users for the product and/or component must approve or deny
all requests that are logged for a specific product and/or component.
To work with approval users:
1. From the Work with Products panel, select the product with 7 in the
Opt field to display the Work with Product Approval Users panel.
2. If creating a new approval user, type 1 in the Opt field to display the
Create Product Approval Users panel.
To display a specific product approval user at the top of the list, type
the user profile ID in the User prof field, and press ENTER.
If you want to perform a different function, you can select 2=Change,
3=Copy, 4=Delete, or 5=Display.
3. Enter the following information:
a) User profile (or press F4 to display a list of valid user profiles
to choose from).
b) Determine if the user must approve service requests for this
product component.
c) Determine if the user must approve design requests for entities
to be checked out, for promotion of entities to a test or
production environment, or for promotion of entities to a
production environment.
4. Press ENTER to process your entries. The panel remains displayed for
additional entries.
5. Press F12=Cancel to redisplay the Work with Product Approval Users
panel or F3=Exit to redisplay the Setup Menu.
Note: Use the same process to create approval users for components of a
product, if required.
Common Question
Q. If I am using SDM-SupportCenter, do the SDM-DesignTracker request product
and component codes need to be equivalent to the SDM-SupportCenter product and
component codes?
A. Yes. This is particularly important if you want to create service requests or design
requests from an existing SDM-SupportCenter call.
