Creating a Service Request

This task is used to create service requests. It is used to manage and control service
requests logged for enhancement requests, requests for services, and other internal or
external requests that need to be tracked.
This is a required task when using SDM-DesignTracker. It is a task typically
performed by a programmer, project leader, or SDM-DesignTracker user.
After the SDM-DesignTracker administrator and setup functions are established and
service request and design request approval guidelines are determined, you can begin
to process requests using the basic functions programs.
To create a service request:
1. From the SDM-DesignTracker Menu, type option 6 and press ENTER
to display the Work with Service Requests panel.
This task can also be accessed by using the Work with Service Requests
command DTWRKSR.
Note: If the Subset Service Requests panel displays, the subset display
option is set to ‘1’ (Yes). See the Subset Service Requests task for further
information about this function.
2. On the Work with Service Request panel, type 1 in the Opt field to
display the Create Service Request panel.
3. In the Create Service Request panel, the title of the service request is
the only required information. Other fields that are helpful are: priority,
status, and the requester company (division or department), and contact.
4. You can set up the following fields as required and/or needing
validation in System Control.

Department
Cost Center
Priority
System
Product
Component
Version
5. You can set the initial values for the following fields in System Control:
Type
System
Status set at approval
