Chapter 2 BEFORE OPERATION<br />

2.1 Handling Precautions<br />

This chapter describes the preparations to be made before you can operate the µR1800<br />

recorder. To use the µR1800, it is necessary to read this chapter first.<br />

Cleaning<br />

The µR1800 contains many plastic parts, like door window and panels. Therefore never<br />

attempt to clean the µR1800 with chemicals like benzene or thinner.<br />

Static electricity<br />

Do not bring any objects charged with static electricity near the signal terminals. This<br />

might cause malfunction.<br />

Insecticide sprays, etc.<br />

Do not allow any volatile substances such as insecticides etc. to come in contact with<br />

the front door, the operation panel, etc. Do not allow rubber or vinyl to remain in<br />

contact with the recorder for long periods.<br />

After use<br />

Ensure that the power switch is turned to the OFF position.<br />

2.1 Handling Precautions<br />

In case of malfunction<br />

Never continue to use the instrument if there are any symptoms of malfunction such as<br />

unusual sounds, smell, or smoke coming from the instrument. Immediately disconnect<br />

the power supply and stop further use of the instrument. If such abnormal symptoms<br />

occur, contact your sales representative or nearest service center.<br />
