Albert Dock, the development of a new<br />

convention centre, hotels, residential, city<br />

canal.<br />

Now promoted as an entity – Liverpool<br />

Waterfronts long term plan is <strong>for</strong> larger scale<br />

development on the western docks – Liverpool<br />

Waters – which is now a designated enterprise<br />

zone.<br />

The need to develop a long term plan <strong>for</strong> the Waterfront, step by step implementation, active<br />

uses as part of a mix, <strong>and</strong> improved connections with the core City Centre. Defined marketing<br />

<strong>and</strong> br<strong>and</strong>ing.<br />

Melbourne Dockl<strong>and</strong>s, Australia<br />

Melbourne’s Dockl<strong>and</strong>s is the product of an<br />

ongoing urban renewal project to extend the<br />

area of the Central Business District by over a<br />

third when completed around 2015, providing<br />

retail, commercial <strong>and</strong> community uses within<br />

tram, boat <strong>and</strong> walking distance of the central<br />

It is now home to several of Melbourne’s<br />

modern l<strong>and</strong>marks including Southern Cross<br />

Station <strong>and</strong> The Southern Star (Melbourne’s<br />

generally due to their association with the<br />
