Within <strong>Limerick</strong>’s urban structure there is a series of historic buildings, spaces <strong>and</strong> districts that provide<br />

valuable l<strong>and</strong>marks <strong>and</strong> points of orientation <strong>for</strong> the City Centre.<br />

The Medieval Quarter<br />

Strengths<br />

<strong>Limerick</strong> City Centre has a range of historic assets that sit within a historic street <strong>and</strong><br />

development fabric;<br />

L<strong>and</strong>mark buildings are matched by smaller scale late 19th Century <strong>and</strong> early 20th Century<br />

buildings that are in everyday use.<br />

Challenges<br />

Some large historic buildings are not in full use – notably the Franciscan Church;<br />
