The foundation of family is parents. In our Indian culture
parents have been given a special respect, they are our roots. No tree
is bigger than its seed. In west this organization namely parent has
lost its existence because the child lives apart from parents as he
grows up. We Indians have family, and our families are existing
because the foundation of our families are the parents . When
foundation is strong, house is also strong.
Before entering in KishkindhaKand, we look at a scenerio of
Sunder Kand where Shri Ramji met Vibhishan for the first time here
Vibhishan talk of knowledge , sacrifice, and gives a very
philosophical statement on Shri Ramji’s kindness. Shri Ramji thought
is it the same kind of detachment which occurred to Sugreev when I
met him. Sugreev said :-
Sukh………………………………….Avradhak .
I will serve you leaving all the pleasures, money, family and
fame. Because the saints who worship your feet says that all these
things are the opponent of Rambhakti.
Sugreev mentioned that family is an obstacle in the path of
Rambhakti. He became an ascetic. But as soon as he got his kingdom
he forgot Ram’s work.
Shri Ramji got this experience of the temporary detachment of
Sugreev, thats why when he saw Vibhishan over committing he said.
“Janani dori”.
Every one should collect, the affectionate threads of love of
mother, father, brother, wife, body, money, home, friend and family,
twist them together and tie it to my feet with his heart, means make
me the center of all the worldly relations.
He clearly states that there is no need to leave all the
above mentioned relations. Not only this he also says, how with the
help of these we can reach God. These are the ten relations which
