3.1.2 Lay pipe with bells facing the direction of laying. Before lowering and while
suspended, inspect the pipe for defects. Lay pipe in accordance with the
following:
● Ductile Iron: AWWA C600.
● Steel: AWWA C600.
● Polyvinyl Chloride: Manufacturer’s instructions.
● Polyethylene: ASTM D2774.
3.1.3 Join pipe in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
3.1.4 Form and place concrete thrust blocks at each elbow or change of direction of
force mains.
3.1.5 Install plastic marking tape continuous over top of non-ferrous pipe below finish
grade.
3.2 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
3.2.1 Air Pressure Test: SALINAS Standard Specification Section71.
3.2.2 Water Pressure Test: SALINAS Standard Specification Section 71.
3.3 CLEANUP
Upon completion of the installation of the sewer lines and appurtenances, remove debris
and surplus materials resulting from the work.
