b. Schistosoma Haematobium<br />

It is fluke that infect venules of the bladder.<br />

Appearance of the egg<br />

- It is found in the urine sediment.<br />

- Has pale yellow brown color.<br />

- Large and oval in shape.<br />

- Has characteristic small spine at one end (terminal spine).<br />

- Measure about 145 x 55 μm.<br />

- <strong>The</strong> egg contains a full-developed miracedium. Sometimes the<br />

miracedium hatch from the egg and can be seen swimming in the<br />

urine. <strong>The</strong> miracedium swim in the urine by the help of ciliates that<br />

are surrounding it.<br />

High excretion of S. haematobium egg can be seen usual between 10.00<br />

a.m. and 2 p.m. It is also important to remember that even when persons<br />

are highly infected, eggs may not be present in the urine. <strong>The</strong>refore that<br />

is important to examine several specimens collected on different days<br />

and examine carefully, that is due to the irregular pattern of egg<br />

excretion.<br />

c. Wuchereria Bancroftie<br />

• It is tissue nematode that invades lymph vessels. It is usually attack<br />

lower limb.<br />

• In chronic bancroftie filariasis, a condition called chyluria can occur<br />

i.e. passing of chyle in the urine. It occurs when the urogenital<br />

lymphatic vessels, which are linked to those, that transport chyle<br />

from the intestine became blocked and rupture.<br />

• Chile consists of lymph and particles of digested fat (soluble in<br />

ether).<br />

• Urine containing chyle appears creamy white. When blood is also<br />

present, the urine appears pinkish-white.
