pletely free <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m. On my next level, I begin <strong>to</strong> adopt <strong>the</strong> Crea<strong>to</strong>r’s<br />

properties and aspire <strong>to</strong> Him. This is called resurrection <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> body.<br />

By “<strong>the</strong> body” we always mean <strong>the</strong> desire. It remains <strong>the</strong> same;<br />

nothing happens <strong>to</strong> it, only <strong>the</strong> intention changes. The body always consists<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> same desires. I always have 620 desires in my body.<br />

By and large, we can easily understand this. The question always<br />

arises about ano<strong>the</strong>r matter. Why are we bound <strong>to</strong> receive bad intentions<br />

“for our own sake” <strong>to</strong> begin with? Why should we see <strong>the</strong>m as bad,<br />

and <strong>the</strong>n wish <strong>to</strong> be completely free <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m and finally begin <strong>to</strong> acquire<br />

good intentions?<br />

Baal HaSulam says:<br />

Why <strong>the</strong>n does <strong>the</strong> body return and rise at <strong>the</strong> “resurrection <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

dead”? Could <strong>the</strong> Crea<strong>to</strong>r not delight <strong>the</strong> souls without it?<br />

Why can we not receive good properties from <strong>the</strong> beginning and be<br />

one with <strong>the</strong> Crea<strong>to</strong>r at once? Why do we have <strong>to</strong> discover Him through<br />

bad properties?<br />
