Disposable sampling equipment will be used to the extent possible; however, all reusable<br />

equipment that may directly or indirectly contact samples will be decontaminated prior to<br />

each use.<br />

The direct push sampling technique can also be used to collect groundwater samples, by<br />

driving a temporary vertically slotted screen to the groundwater sampling interval. The<br />

groundwater is then collected by inserting Teflon tubing to the end of the screen <strong>and</strong><br />

attaching the upper end to a peristaltic pump. The water is purged <strong>and</strong> allowed to<br />

recharge, if necessary. Temperature, pH <strong>and</strong> specific conductivity or TDS will be<br />

measured after each well volume is removed. Development will continue until these<br />

parameters have stabilized within the following criteria for three consecutive readings<br />

within + 10 % of previous readings for temperature <strong>and</strong> TDS, + 0.1 unit for pH, <strong>and</strong> +3%<br />

for specific conductance. If these criteria have not been attained after 2 hours,<br />

development activities will be suspended, the well will be considered “developed” <strong>and</strong><br />

water samples will be collected. The water is then immediately transferred into<br />

appropriate sampling containers <strong>and</strong> placed on ice until it can be analyzed.
