Manitou Springs Collaborative (MSC) Implementation Plan for the Manitou Springs Forward Vision and Planning Guide (MSFVP Guide) City Council 12/4/12 Objectives: Note: items in blue are already in progress. 1. Create a working group to achieve the implementation objectives. Manitou Springs Collaborative (MSC) formed and two meetings already. MSC purpose: To champion, inspire, educate, support and promote the use of the MSFVPG in the community to fulfill the visions in the Guide. 2. Provide a full (209 pages with appendices) and a shortened printed document (50 pages) for City Council, staff and interested community leaders of the MSF Vision and Planning Guide. Design in progress. a. Each of the 50 Manitou Springs organizations gets a shortened version of the MSFVPG. 3. Meet with organizations to monitor, encourage and support the implementation of the community vision statements. In progress. a. Organizations take ownership of visions. Keep visions in forefront. b. Outline for people to use when go to a meeting. c. Work with city council and smaller boards on particular alignments between city council/smaller boards. d. To provide direction for current issues: Parking, City Budget, flooding from Waldo fire, H. S. Prom… 4. Catalogue and update community organization, boards, commissions, initiatives and projects. Completed and is being updated. 5. Community Engagement: Every resident and lover of Manitou Springs is exposed to the 10 vision statements. Examples: a. Pikes Peak Bulletin has an article about each one (monthly) b. Independent c. City Newsletter in PPB d. Displayed in town e. Celebrate and publicize successes and actions that highlight plan f. Annual community meeting (potluck) to inform and celebrate progress and successes toward the visions. g. Annual Visionary Leadership Award to inspire leadership in the community to bring visions to fruition. 1
