5 Course design and delivery
5.2 Recommended delivery strategies
Centre staff should familiarise themselves with the structure, content and assessment requirements
of the qualification before designing a course programme.
Centres may design course programmes of study in any way which:
• best meets the needs and capabilities of their learners
• satisfies the requirements of the qualification.
City & Guilds recommends that centres address the wider curriculum where appropriate when
designing and delivering the course. Centres should also consider links to the Key Skills and other
related qualifications. Relationship tables are provided in Appendix 1 Relationships to other
qualifications to assist centres with the design and delivery of the qualification.
Centres may wish to include topics as part of the course programme which will not be assessed
through the qualification.
