Unit 309 Managing your health at work<br />
Notes for guidance<br />
Assessment for this unit should be through questioning and having the learner explain the reasons<br />
for keeping healthy. This should be delivered on a one to one basis however some elements may<br />
suit group discussions.<br />
Outcome 1- Know why it is important to be healthy at work.<br />
Some of the reasons that learners may come up with may include that it helps them to work more<br />
efficiently, increases their enjoyment of their work, provides increased self esteem, and increases<br />
quality of work.<br />
Outcome 2- Know how to keep healthy at work.<br />
Things learners may consider for ways of keeping healthy may include a healthy diet, regular<br />
exercise, having enough sleep, having appropriate equipment and appropriate use of the<br />
equipment at work eg keyboard, chair height etc.<br />
Learners should identify their working environment as part of this outcome and the possible health<br />
issues (possible illness/injuries) as well as at least one other work environment. Possible health<br />
issues may include repetitive strain injury, bad back from lifting incorrectly cold, flu, temperature in<br />
the workplace etc.<br />
