Unit 301 Exploring job opportunities in the workplace Level: Entry 3 Credit value: 3 Unit aim The aim of this unit is to enable the learner to develop the knowledge and skills to apply for a job through practical learning and application. The skills developed by the learner will include selecting a number of workplaces to visit, carrying out job searches and applying for a job. The knowledge acquired by the learner through the unit will enable learners to know what kind of work they want to pursue, have an understanding of how to look for work and an understanding of the information that they need to complete a job application. Learning outcomes There are five learning outcomes to this unit. The learner will be able to: 1. Decide on up to three workplaces to visit based on their goals and interests 2. Visit three workplaces to find out what different jobs entail 3. Compare the information from their visits to decide what kind of job they would like to do 4. Perform a job search 5. Apply for a job of their choice, using the most appropriate method Guided learning hours It is recommended that 30 hours should be allocated for this unit. This may be on a full-time or parttime basis. Assessment and grading This unit will be assessed by: • Assessor observation • Oral questioning by the assessor • Witness statements. 12 Entry Level 3 Certificate in Personal Progression through Employment (3803-03)

Use appropriate sources to find out about different employers 2. Select up to three workplaces which they want to visit 3. State why they want to visit chosen workplaces 4. Communicate to arrange visits to workplaces 5. Prepare a list of questions to ask at the visits to find out more information about working there.
