Unit 316 Preparation for work<br />

The initial work can be conducted as part of a discussion, either individually or within a small group.<br />
This unit may also feed in to the Developing Self PSD unit.<br />
Learners must describe some personal skills (state what it is and how they achieve that particular<br />
skill). Learners should then identify what personal skills they have which match what the employers<br />
want.<br />
Discussion should be recorded in detail, if in a group discussion each learner’s contribution must be<br />
fully documented. It may be beneficial to record the discussion using an audio recorder.<br />
Once the learner has selected the type of job they want to do (within applying for a job) they can<br />
then further develop their understanding and knowledge of a specific job role. Learners can then<br />
compare the information to their wants which have been identified previously and ultimately select<br />
a role to apply for.<br />
