to report and recommends for adoption the following resolution<br />

89 09 Consent Calendar<br />

of<br />

WHEREAS the State of Connecticut Department Emergency<br />

Managlment and Homeland Security through the U S Department of<br />

Homeland Security is autgorized to extend financial assistance to<br />

municipalities in the form otgrants and<br />

WHEREAS this funding has been made possible through the U S<br />

Department Homeland Security and<br />

WHEREAS funds under this grant will be used to support<br />

Maritime law enforcement firefighting and Maritime Group Dive<br />

Operations in a manner exceeding current capabilities and<br />

WHEREAS it is desirable and in the public interest that the City of<br />

Bridgeport Central Grants Office submit an application<br />

to the U S<br />

of Homeland Security<br />

Department<br />

in an amount not to exceed<br />

3 529 587 for the purpose addressing the implementation of a Maritime<br />

Support Network supporting Maritime Law Enforcement Firefighting<br />

and Maritime Group Dive Operations in a manner exceeding current<br />

capabilities and expanding the current large scale rnedical and rescue<br />

capabilities<br />

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE City Council<br />

1 That it is of the<br />

cognizant<br />

City s grant application and<br />

Department of Homeland Security for<br />

contract to the U S<br />

funds to support Maritime law enforcement firefighting<br />

and Maritime Group Dive Operations in a manner<br />

exceeding current capabilities to protect the port area<br />

2 That it hereby authorizes directs and empowers the<br />

mayor or his designee to execute and file such application<br />

with the U S Department of Homeland Security for the<br />

Port Security 2009 Program to provide such additional<br />

information and to execute such other contracts and<br />

documents as may be necessary under this program
