Building means any structure built for support shelter or enclosure for any<br />
occupancy or storage<br />
Coastal high hazard area<br />
means the area of special Uood hazard subject to<br />
high velocity waters including but not limited to hurricane wave wash The area is<br />
designated on a Flood Insurance Rate Map FIRM as Zone vtW1 VE<br />
Development means a manmade change to improved or unimproved real<br />
estate including but not limited to the construction of buildin s or other structuresi<br />
the construction of additions alterations or substanticll improvements to<br />
buildings or structures the placement of buildings or structures mining dredging<br />
filling grading paving excavation drilling operations or stora e of equipment the<br />
storage deposition or extraction of or materials and the iinstallation repair or<br />
removal of public or private sewage disposal systems or water supplv facilities<br />
located within the area of special flood hazard<br />
Elevated building In the FEMA issued definition for elevated building<br />
combined specifications are given for structures in A zones and V zones The definitions<br />
for elevated buildings in A zones and for V zones follow<br />
1 Elevated building A and A1 A 30 zones means a nonbasement building<br />
built to have the top of the elevated floor elevated above the ground level<br />
by means of pilings columns posts and piers or shear walls or by<br />
means of fill or solid foundation perimeter walls with openings sufficient to<br />
facilitate the unimpeded movement of floodwaters<br />
2 Elevated building V and V1 V30 zones means a nonbasement building<br />
built to have the bottom of the lowest horizontal structural member of the<br />
elevated floor elevated above the ground level by means of pilings<br />
columns posts and piers or shear walls parallel to the flow of water and<br />
adequately anchored so as not to impair the structural integrity of the<br />
building during a flood of the magnitude of the base flood Elevated<br />
building also includes structures which have the lower area enclosed by<br />
means of breakaway walls if the breakaway walls meet the standards of<br />
