91 09 Consent Calendar
Whereas the State of Connecticut Department of Emergency Management and
Homeland Security through the U S Department of Homeland Security is authorized to
extend financial assistance to municipalities in the form of grants and
Whereas this funding has been made possible through
the State of Connecticut
Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security and
Whereas funds under this grant will be used to support Maritime Law
Enforcement Maritime Firefighting and Maritime Group Dive Operations
exceeding current capabilities and
in a manner
Whereas it is desirable and in the public interest that the City of Bridgeport
submit an application
to the U S Department of Homeland Security in an amount not to
exceed 1 199 216 for the purpose of purchasing equipment and services necessary to
enhance Port Security Capabilities and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
1 That it is cognizant of the City s grant application and contract to the U S
Department of Homeland Security for funds to support Maritime Law
Enforcement Maritime Firefighting and Maritime Group Dive Operations
Capabilities
2 That it hereby authorizes directs and empowers the mayor or his designee
to execute and file such application with the U S Department of
Homeland Security for the Port Security 2008 Program to provide such
additional information and to execute such other contracts and documents
as maybe necessary under this program
