Arts or ACAD 0211 Reading Review. Offered in the spring semester. This course will cover the history of the surveying profession in America<br />

with an eye to identifying the necessary and sufficient work ethics of the profession. The course will also cover the leading ethical theories<br />

in philosophy as a foundation to the study applied professional ethics <strong>for</strong> land surveyors. This course will review the standards of practice<br />

and codes of conduct that apply to the Arkansas land surveyor, including the rules of the board and the requirement <strong>for</strong> licensor as a land<br />

surveyor in the state.<br />

Reading Review. Offered in the spring semester. This is an introductory course in surveying equipment use and surveying computations. Field<br />

work includes taking survey field notes, leveling, using an automatic level, and traversing using total station instruments. The theory portion<br />

covers the history of surveying; the theory of measurement and errors; theory of leveling; angles, bearings, and azimuths; introduction to<br />

coordinate geometry (COGO); and the basics of the U. S. Public Land Survey System.<br />
