• n Petition the Financial Aid Appeals Committee in writing <strong>for</strong> reinstatement of financial assistance. This appeal must be approved, and the<br />

student must be making satisfactory progress at the end of the next term or be meeting the <strong>requirements</strong> of the academic plan provided by<br />

the Appeals Committee.<br />

Appeal Process<br />

Students whose aid is cancelled may appeal this decision ONLY if there are EXTENUATING circumstances. <strong>To</strong> appeal, the student must<br />

<strong>complete</strong> and return the appeal <strong>for</strong>m to the UACCM Financial Aid Office in writing within the designated timeframe indicated on the<br />

student’s notification letter. The appeal should include a statement explaining the request <strong>for</strong> financial aid reinstatement and an explanation<br />

of the reasons <strong>for</strong> the request. Additionally, the student must explain what circumstances have now changed that will assist the student<br />

in making satisfactory progress. Supporting documentation should be attached whenever possible. Once the appeal has been submitted,<br />

the committee will review the appeal to determine whether or not circumstances beyond the student’s control prevented him/her from<br />

maintaining satisfactory progress. Appeals that are approved are not retroactive to previous semesters. The Financial Aids Appeal Committee<br />

is appointed by the Vice Chancellor <strong>for</strong> Student Services. The decision of the Financial Aid Appeals Committee is final.<br />

<strong>college</strong> <strong>in<strong>for</strong>mation</strong><br />

Scholarships, Grants, and Loans<br />

Institutionally funded academic scholarships, privately funded scholarships, and community-based scholarships are available to students<br />

at the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton. Scholarship applications are available online or in either the Admissions<br />

Office or the Financial Aid Office and should be returned to the Financial Aid Office when <strong>complete</strong>d by the designated deadline. Specific<br />

<strong>in<strong>for</strong>mation</strong> concerning application deadlines, minimum eligibility <strong>requirements</strong>, and scholarship amounts may be obtained online or by<br />

calling the Admissions or Financial Aid Office. Most scholarship recipients are selected by the UACCM Scholarship Committee. Scholarship<br />

awards are contingent on the availability of appropriate funding and are not guaranteed. The College reserves the right to limit scholarship<br />

awards. A student must be a U.S. citizen or legal non-citizen to be eligible <strong>for</strong> institutionally-funded academic scholarships.<br />

UACCM offers a variety of aid <strong>for</strong> students. The scholarships and criteria listed below are <strong>for</strong> the 2013-2014 academic year (Fall 2013/Spring<br />

2014). Scholarships and criteria are subject to change beginning Fall 2014. Students are encouraged to contact the Admissions Office or<br />

Financial Aid Office <strong>for</strong> details on the following types of scholarships.<br />

Institutional Scholarships<br />

Academic Excellence Scholarship<br />

The Academic Excellence Scholarship is a tuition waiver <strong>for</strong> up to 15 credit hours awarded to UACCM students who have <strong>complete</strong>d 30<br />

<strong>college</strong>-level credit hours at UACCM with a 4.00 cumulative grade point average. The scholarship is renewable <strong>for</strong> one semester if the student<br />

maintains a 4.00 cumulative grade point average and successfully <strong>complete</strong>s at least 15 <strong>college</strong>-level credit hours each semester. Students must<br />

enroll in at least 15 <strong>college</strong>-level semester hours to be awarded this scholarship. There is no application required <strong>for</strong> this scholarship.<br />

Academic Incentive Scholarship<br />

The Academic Incentive Scholarship is a $500 tuition waiver awarded to first-time entering students who have achieved a composite score of<br />

21-23 on the ACT with no subtest score below a 19 or COMPASS scores of at least 75 in Writing, 82 in Reading, and 51 in Algebra. Students’<br />

test scores used in determining eligibility may not be over five years old. The scholarship is renewable <strong>for</strong> up to three consecutive semesters<br />

if the student maintains a 3.00 semester and cumulative grade point average or better and successfully <strong>complete</strong>s at least 12 <strong>college</strong>-level<br />

credit hours each semester, a total of at least 27 <strong>college</strong>-level hours after the first year, and 42 <strong>college</strong>-level hours after the third semester.<br />

Students must enroll in at least 12 <strong>college</strong>-level semester credit hours to be awarded this scholarship. Students must <strong>complete</strong> the appropriate<br />

scholarship application to be eligible.<br />

Academic Merit Scholarship<br />

The Academic Merit Scholarship is a tuition waiver <strong>for</strong> up to 15 credit hours awarded to first-time entering students who have achieved a<br />

composite score of 24-27 on the ACT with no subtest score below a 19 or COMPASS scores of at least 94 in Writing, 92 in Reading, and 67<br />

in Algebra. Students who graduated as Valedictorian or Salutatorian, as certified on their final transcript or by a letter from the high school<br />

principal or counselor, of their high school class are eligible <strong>for</strong> this scholarship. Students’ test scores used in determining eligibility may<br />

not be over five years old. The scholarship is renewable <strong>for</strong> up to three consecutive semesters if the student maintains a 3.00 semester and<br />

cumulative grade point average or better and successfully <strong>complete</strong>s at least 12 <strong>college</strong>-level credit hours each semester, a total of at least<br />
