Emergency Medical Technician
This program consists of one eight-hour
credit course including both lecture
and practicum experiences that will
meet the requirements for students
to take the State of Arkansas and
National Registry Emergency Medical
Technician Examination. These exams
are administered through the Arkansas
Department of Health.
Requirements
• n Students must complete admission
requirements of the college.
• n Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
• n Current AHA Healthcare Providers CPR
certification is required. Students enrolled
in the program will be required to have
malpractice insurance.
• n TB Screening/Clearance.
• n Subject to criminal background check.
• n Language Arts/College Success must be
completed prior to EMT 1008 if placement
scores indicate.
After UACCM
Graduates are employed as:
• n Emergency Medical Technicians

n • Students required to take remedial courses
must follow the UACCM Student Success

**This course is taught at an off-campus site, typically an area ambulance service
location. The class usually meets two nights per week.
Practical Skills Labs include:
• n Vital signs, patient history and personal protective equipment lab
• n Lifting and moving patients lab (gurney operations, Scoop stretcher, flat emergency
moves, and backboard/log roll)
• n Airway and ventilation skills lab
• n Patient assessment lab for medical and trauma patients and Patient Care Report
• n Medical skills lab
• n Trauma skills lab (bandaging, splinting, and spinal immobilization; assessment and
management of patients with traumatic injuries)
• n Pediatrics skills lab
