The Welding program provides instruction<br />

in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW),<br />

Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), and<br />

Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), as<br />

well as blueprint reading and layout<br />

techniques. Certificates of Proficiency<br />

are offered <strong>for</strong> SMAW and Pipe Welding.<br />

Students may also <strong>complete</strong> <strong>requirements</strong><br />

<strong>for</strong> a Technical Certificate in Welding<br />

Technology.<br />

After UACCM<br />

Graduates are employed as:<br />

• n Pipeline construction<br />

• n Metal fabrication<br />

• n Manufacturing firms<br />

• n Industrial companies <strong>for</strong> equipment repair<br />

n • Students required to take remedial courses<br />

must follow the UACCM Student Success<br />

All technical courses must have been taken within the past five years in order to receive<br />

credit toward any degree in the Department of Technical Studies or in order <strong>for</strong> the<br />

course to count as a prerequisite <strong>for</strong> a course. If the course was taken over five years ago,<br />

a student has the option to request prior learning credit by contacting the division chair<br />

<strong>for</strong> technical studies and following the procedure(s) given.<br />
