examination of stylistic techniques, genres, and aesthetic elements of popular and historically significant films. (GE)<br />

Arts or ACAD 0211 Reading Review AND the consent of the division chair. The course content will introduce the skills necessary to understand<br />

camera basics with a focus on digital photography. In addition, composition and lighting is emphasized along with applications in the<br />

following: landscape photography, event photography, location photography, and people photography. Photographic methods (resolution/<br />

contrast) are emphasized <strong>for</strong> print and Web design. Digital editing software is introduced.<br />

Prerequisite: Consent of division chair. Offered in the spring semester. This course is designed to introduce basic technical drawing techniques <strong>for</strong><br />

students so they will be able to effectively draw <strong>for</strong> storyboards, animation, ads and the applied arts in general. This course will introduce<br />

students to 1-point perspective, 2-point perspective, figure drawing, and basic drawing using geometric <strong>for</strong>ms.<br />

Arts or ACAD 0211 Reading Review AND the consent of the division chair. This course is designed to introduce the basic design principles. The<br />

student will learn to plan and organize using the activities thinking, looking, and doing. The student learns to solve creative problems<br />

whether their future study involves painting, fashion design, interior design, industrial design, set design or graphic design.<br />

Arts or ACAD 0211 Reading Review AND the consent of the division chair. This course is designed to introduce layout and design techniques used<br />

by the advertising and art design industry. Students study type styles, type selection, layout design and copyfitting. Students also learn the<br />

arrangement of elements (headline, photography, text, etc.) to meet professional standards. Students will produce a portfolio of their work.<br />

GDT 2413 Graphic Design II ...........................................................................3 Cr. (3 Lec.)<br />

Prerequisite: Grade of “C” or higher in GDT 2403 Graphic Design I and consent of the division chair. This course is a continuation of skills and<br />

concepts introduced in Graphic Design I. Students plan and develop brochures, newsletters, stationery, business cards, etc. Students will<br />

develop a corporate identity program, an advertising campaign, and a portfolio of their work.<br />

GDT 2503 Web Page Design ........................................................................... 3 Cr. (3 Lec)<br />

Prerequisite: Grade of “C” or higher in GDT 2533 Digital Imaging or approval of the instructor and consent of the division chair. The course covers<br />

planning, designing, developing, testing, publishing, and maintaining a multi-page Web site. <strong>To</strong>pics include imaging, typography, animation,<br />

navigation, layout, and publishing as well as a study of HTML. Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Flash will be used.
