Prerequisite: Consent of the division chair AND Grade of “C” or higher in one of the following: GDT 2513 Digital Illustrations, GDT 2533 Digital
Imaging, or BUS 2243 Business Graphics. This course is designed to teach students the basics of using Mac computers. Students learn to set type
and create multi-page documents using Adobe InDesign CS as the main applications software.
GDT 2533 Digital Imaging. ............................................................................3 Cr. (3 Lec.)
Prerequisite: Grade of “C” or higher in BUS 1213 Computer Applications and consent of the division chair. This course is designed to familiarize
students with the fundamentals of Adobe Photoshop CS. Students learn the process of changing existing images and combining images to
create a composite image or montage to which special effects may be added. Students create posters, billboards, and magazine ads. Students
learn the fundamentals of preparing files for output to lithography, newspapers, and magazines.
GDT 2543 Advanced Electronic Page Layout and Prepress ..........................................3 Cr. (3 Lec.)
Prerequisite: Consent of the division chair AND Grade of “C” or higher in all of the following: GDT 2523 Electronic Page Layout & Prepress, GDT 2403
Graphic Design I, and grade of “C” or higher in either GDT 2513 Digital Illustration or GDT 2533 Digital Imaging. This course serves as a capstone
for the advanced graphic design students who have developed knowledge of graphic design through study and portfolio development. The
students will continue to revise their portfolios. Client relations, concept designs, and production skills are incorporated along with field trips
Welding
WLD 1001L Basic Welding ............................................................................ 1 Cr. (3 Lab)
Prerequisite: None. Offered in the fall and spring semesters. This course is NOT for welding majors. This course provides training in theory,
manipulative skills, safety and related shop practices involving the use of oxyacetylene and electric arc stick welding. Students who
successfully complete this course will be able to make quality welds in various positions. Techniques of fusion, brazing, soldering, and arc
welding are covered.
WLD 1202 Craft Skills ...............................................................................2 Cr. (2 Lec.)
Prerequisite: None. Offered in the fall and spring semesters. This is an introductory course to basic craft skills essential to the welding industry
as well as all other skilled trades. The course is designed to help entry level craft workers increase their awareness of material handling
techniques and basic equipment safety. The curriculum for this course is based on the National Center for Construction Education and
Research (NCCER) guidelines and represents one of the foundational courses in the NCCER accredited welding program.
WLD 1203 Gas Metal Arc Welding ..............................................................3 Cr. (1 Lec., 6 Lab)
Prerequisite: ACT Reading score of 17, COMPASS Reading score of 77, or grade of “C” or higher or concurrently enrolled in either ACAD 0324 Language
Arts or ACAD 0211 Reading Review. Offered in the fall and spring semesters. This course includes an in-depth study of the gas metal arc welding
process (GMAW). The student will learn the principles of a constant voltage power source and the mechanics and maintenance of the wire
feeding system. Lab classes provide opportunities for students to practice short circuiting transfer on stainless and mild steel and globular
transfer with flux cored wire feeding systems. The curriculum for this course is based on the National Center for Construction Educations and
Research (NCCER) guidelines.
WLD 1206 shielded metal arc welding i ........................................................6 Cr. (3 Lec., 9 Lab)
