Directory In<strong>for</strong>mation<br />

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton designates the following items as directory <strong>in<strong>for</strong>mation</strong>: student name, address,<br />

major, dates of enrollment, certificates and/or degrees received, honors, and most recent school attended. UACCM may disclose any of these<br />

items without prior written consent, unless notified in writing to the contrary prior to disclosure. Student notification is only effective <strong>for</strong> one<br />

semester or summer term. The appropriate <strong>for</strong>m to prevent disclosure of directory <strong>in<strong>for</strong>mation</strong> is available in the Registrar’s Office.<br />

Disclosure of Student Records<br />

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton will disclose <strong>in<strong>for</strong>mation</strong> from a student’s educational records only with the<br />

written consent of the student, except:<br />

• n <strong>To</strong> school officials who have a legitimate educational interest in the records. A school official is:<br />

• A person employed by UACCM in an administrative, supervisory, instructional, or support staff position<br />

• A person employed by or under contract to UACCM to per<strong>for</strong>m a special task, such as the attorney or auditor<br />

• A school official has a legitimate educational interest if the official is:<br />

• Per<strong>for</strong>ming a task that is specified in his or her position description or by a contract agreement<br />

• Per<strong>for</strong>ming a task related to a student’s education<br />

• Per<strong>for</strong>ming a task related to the discipline of the student<br />

• n <strong>To</strong> certain officials of the U.S. Department of Education, the Comptroller General, and state and local educational authorities, in connection<br />

with certain state or federally supported educational programs.<br />

• n In connection with the student’s request <strong>for</strong> a receipt of financial aid, as necessary to determine eligibility, amount or conditions of the<br />

financial aid, or to en<strong>for</strong>ce the terms and conditions of the aid.<br />

• n <strong>To</strong> organizations conducting certain studies <strong>for</strong> or on behalf of the school.<br />

• n <strong>To</strong> accrediting organizations to carry out their functions.<br />

• n <strong>To</strong> comply with a judicial order or a lawfully issued subpoena.<br />

Privacy Rights of Students<br />

For purposes of this policy, UACCM will use the following definitions of terms:<br />

Student: any person who attends or has attended UACCM.<br />

Educational records: any record maintained by UACCM which is directly related to a student, except:<br />

• n A personal record kept by a faculty/staff member if it is kept in the personal possession of the individual who made the record, and<br />

<strong>in<strong>for</strong>mation</strong> contained in the record has never been revealed or made available to any other person except the maker’s temporary<br />

substitute.<br />

• n An employment record of an individual whose employment is not contingent on the fact that he or she is a student, provided the record is<br />

used only in relation to the individual’s employment.<br />

• n Records of the campus law en<strong>for</strong>cement unit, but only if education records maintained by the campus are not disclosed to the law<br />

en<strong>for</strong>cement unit, and the law en<strong>for</strong>cement records are:<br />

• Maintained separately from educational records<br />

• Maintained solely <strong>for</strong> law en<strong>for</strong>cement purposes<br />

• Disclosed only to law en<strong>for</strong>cement officials of the same jurisdiction<br />
