Advisory Committees<br />

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton and business/industry have mutually benefited through an active advisory<br />

committee relationship. These committees, representing each major instructional area, are comprised of members from business and industry<br />

who provide a broad spectrum of technical expertise and management.<br />

The principal mission of each committee is to provide an advisory function concerning course content, laboratory and shop design, and<br />

program development. Another important function is the support and promotion of student recruitment and graduate placement.<br />

Grievance Procedures<br />

ADA Grievance Procedures<br />

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton has adopted an internal grievance procedure <strong>for</strong> prompt and equitable<br />

resolution of complaints alleging any action prohibited by the U. S. Department of Justice regulations implementing Title II of the Americans<br />

with Disabilities Act. Title II states, in part, that “no otherwise qualified disabled individual shall, solely by reason of such disability, be<br />

excluded from the participation, be denied the benefits <strong>for</strong>, or be subjected to discrimination in programs or activities sponsored by a public<br />

entity.”<br />

Complaints should be addressed to: Vice Chancellor <strong>for</strong> Student Services, University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton, 1537<br />

University Blvd., Morrilton, Arkansas 72110, who has been designated to coordinate ADA compliance.<br />

• n A complaint should be filed in writing, contain the name and address of the person filing the complaint, and briefly describe the alleged<br />

violation of the regulations.<br />

• n A complaint should be filed within five working days after the complainant becomes aware of the alleged violation.<br />

• n An investigation, as may be appropriate, shall follow a filing of a complaint. The investigation shall be conducted by the Vice<br />

Chancellor <strong>for</strong> Student Services. This process includes an in<strong>for</strong>mal but thorough investigation, af<strong>for</strong>ding all interested persons and their<br />

representatives, if any, an opportunity to submit evidence related to a complaint.<br />

• n A written description as to the validity of the complaint and a description of the resolution, if any, shall be issued by the Vice Chancellor <strong>for</strong><br />

Student Services and a copy mailed to the complainant no later than 10 days after its filing.<br />

• n The ADA Coordinator shall maintain the files and records of UACCM relating to the complaints filed.<br />

• n The complainant can request a reconsideration of the case in instances where he/she is dissatisfied with the resolution. The request <strong>for</strong><br />

reconsideration should be made within 10 days to the Chancellor, University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton.<br />

• n The right of a person to a prompt and equitable resolution of the complaint filed hereunder shall not be impaired by the person’s pursuit<br />

of other remedies such as filing of an ADA complaint with the responsible federal department or agency. Use of this grievance procedure is<br />

not a prerequisite to the pursuit of other remedies.<br />

Student Grievance Procedures<br />

Any alleged grievance which a student, including online students, may have regarding a College employee, an institutional regulation, and/<br />

or the interpretation and application of such regulation may be considered under this procedure.<br />

Individuals wanting to resolve a grievance in<strong>for</strong>mally may contact the Vice Chancellor <strong>for</strong> Student Services be<strong>for</strong>e filing a <strong>for</strong>mal grievance.<br />

The person should first discuss his/her grievance with the person responsible <strong>for</strong> the action, interpretation, or application of the regulations<br />

leading to the problem.
