Sound on the UACCM Campus<br />

It is important that individuals and groups within the College community respect others’ rights by not creating noise disturbances. The<br />

UACCM Police will respond to reports of excessive noise.<br />

<strong>To</strong>bacco Products<br />

Effective May 15, 2009, the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) is a tobacco-free campus. Though UACCM<br />

does not seek to <strong>for</strong>ce a required cessation of tobacco products by its students, faculty, staff, or visitors, smoking and use of tobacco products<br />

will not be permitted anywhere on the UACCM campus.<br />

Definition of Terms<br />

• n <strong>To</strong>bacco Product—includes but is not limited to cigarettes (including tobacco-free and nicotine-free cigarettes), cigars, pipes, chewing<br />

tobacco, and snuff.<br />

• n Campus—Includes <strong>college</strong> vehicles; vehicles parked on <strong>college</strong> property; and any and all UACCM owned, leased, or maintained property<br />

including but not limited to buildings, facilities, sidewalks, parking lots, building entrances and common areas, athletic fields, outdoor<br />

seating, and grounds.<br />

General In<strong>for</strong>mation Continued<br />

Provisions<br />

• n This policy replaces all previous tobacco policies.<br />

• n Effective May 15, 2009, the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) is a <strong>To</strong>bacco-Free Campus. All tobacco use<br />

on campus is prohibited.<br />

• n This policy applies to trustees, staff, faculty, students, visitors, vendors, and contractors.<br />

• n Organizers and attendees at public events on the UACCM campus such as conferences, meetings, public lectures, social events, and<br />

cultural events will be required to abide by the UACCM <strong>To</strong>bacco-Free Campus Policy. Organizers of such events are responsible <strong>for</strong><br />

communicating this policy to attendees and <strong>for</strong> en<strong>for</strong>cing the policy.<br />

• n Contractors and their employees providing a service to the UACCM campus are also required to abide by this policy.<br />

• n The sale of tobacco products on the UACCM campus is prohibited.<br />

• n The free distribution of tobacco products on the UACCM campus is prohibited.<br />

• n <strong>To</strong>bacco advertisements are prohibited in <strong>college</strong> publications.<br />

Implementation<br />

• n Based upon health data, it is the hope of UACCM that students, employees, and visitors recognize the value of this policy and voluntarily<br />

comply.<br />

• n Implementation and en<strong>for</strong>cement of this policy are the shared responsibility of the entire <strong>college</strong> community. There<strong>for</strong>e, all members of the<br />

<strong>college</strong> community are asked to courteously and tactfully in<strong>for</strong>m persons in violation of the <strong>To</strong>bacco-Free Campus Policy concerning their<br />

violation.<br />

• n Appropriate signs will be posted on campus. However, the <strong>To</strong>bacco-Free Policy applies whether or not signs are posted.<br />

• n Managers and supervisors interviewing applicants <strong>for</strong> possible employment with UACCM will in<strong>for</strong>m the applicants that UACCM is a<br />

tobacco-free campus.<br />

• n The Admissions Office will in<strong>for</strong>m prospective students that UACCM is a tobacco-free campus.<br />

• n Any contracts or agreements <strong>for</strong> use or lease of UACCM property or facilities will clearly state the <strong>college</strong> is a tobacco-free campus.<br />

Compliance<br />

• n Students, employees, and visitors are expected to comply with all UACCM policies and procedures.
