interest. Compared to a 3-Credit Intermediate 1 course, this<br />

abilities both in class and outsi<strong>de</strong> besi<strong>de</strong>s introducing some<br />

additional topics and exploring Italian culture. Key grammatical<br />

and spoken texts and respond appropriately to them, both<br />

orally and in writing. Compared to a 3-Credit Intermediate 2<br />

course, this course <strong>de</strong>votes more time to practicing the four<br />

main language abilities both in class and outsi<strong>de</strong> besi<strong>de</strong>s<br />

introducing some additional topics and exploring Italian<br />

culture. Key grammatical topics inclu<strong>de</strong>: review and expansion<br />

of contents of previous levels; forms and use of the subjunctive<br />

should be able to un<strong>de</strong>rstand most TV news and information<br />

on current affairs; read contemporary literary prose; write<br />

texts about a wi<strong>de</strong> range of subjects; achieve the <strong>de</strong>gree of<br />

confi<strong>de</strong>nce with the language that makes communication fluid<br />

and clear. Compared to a 3-Credit Advanced 1 course, this<br />

course <strong>de</strong>votes more time to practicing the four main language<br />

abilities both in class and outsi<strong>de</strong> besi<strong>de</strong>s introducing some<br />

additional topics and exploring Italian culture. Key grammatical<br />

topics inclu<strong>de</strong>: consolidation of previous levels; impersonal<br />

expressions and colloquialisms, as well as apply register shifts.<br />

One semester of Six-Credit Italian is equivalent to a two<br />

semester sequence of 3 credits. This course is for absolute<br />

beginner stu<strong>de</strong>nts who have never studied Italian before. By<br />

the end of the semester stu<strong>de</strong>nts should be able to complete<br />

simple and routine tasks requiring an exchange of information<br />

on familiar matters, to <strong>de</strong>scribe their background and issues<br />

related to everyday life. Key grammatical topics inclu<strong>de</strong>: <strong>de</strong>finite<br />

and in<strong>de</strong>finite articles; noun-adjective agreement; present<br />

tense of regular and main irregular verbs; present perfect;<br />

texts on topics of personal interest. Key grammatical topics<br />
