9. This is another area where the preference is to find materials with high recycled<br />

content. This research will be done in the next phase <strong>of</strong> work.<br />

Section 09510: Acoustical Ceiling Systems<br />

1. Lay-in acoustical tile ceilings will be in most <strong>of</strong> the spaces in the building, with the<br />

exception <strong>of</strong> the gyms, multi-purpose rooms, library, and lobby area. All lay-in ceilings<br />

to be white.<br />

a. 24” x 24” acoustical lay-in ceiling panels as indicated in ceiling plan to be<br />

Armstrong, USG, or equal with manufacturer’s recommended suspension<br />

system. The specified products are to have high recycled content.<br />

b. Assume framed gyp board s<strong>of</strong>fits around the perimiter <strong>of</strong> all rooms except the<br />

<strong>of</strong>fice and childcare.<br />

c. Hangers and tie wires with seismic bracing as required by local building<br />

department. Provide miscellaneous clips, fastenings and edge trim as<br />

recommended by manufacturer for specific conditions.<br />

d. Kitchen and lab classrooms to have mylar coated washable lay-in ceiling.<br />

2. Allow for wood slat acoustical ceilings in the three multi-purpose rooms, lobby, and library.<br />

3. The new gym should have an Epic perforated acoustical metal deck structure with acoustic<br />

batts installed. Assume a 4’ high band <strong>of</strong> tectum panels to be installed on the upper portion<br />

<strong>of</strong> 2 long walls.<br />

4. At the old gym, we will need to install a new acoustical ceiling throughout the space, as well<br />

as one 8’ high band <strong>of</strong> tectum panels on the upper portions <strong>of</strong> all four walls.<br />

Section 09541: Fiber Reinforced Plastic Panels<br />

1. Full height FRP panels by Marlite or equal to be installed at all walls <strong>of</strong> kitchen and<br />

janitor’s rooms.<br />

2. Provide all related connections and trim.<br />

Section 09600: Wood Flooring<br />

1. At the new gym and dance studio, provide a complete cushioned wood strip flooring<br />

system.<br />

2. Recess slab to receive flooring, and provide minimum 10 mil polyethelene sheet vapor<br />

retarder substrate.<br />

3. System consists <strong>of</strong> two layers <strong>of</strong> plywood underlayment, installed in opposing<br />

directions, set over manufacturer’s standard rubber pads, covered with second grade<br />

maple strips, 2-1/4” wide by 33/32” thick, with appropriate seal coat finish.<br />
